University of Colorado Denver CAM Records Wins Independent Music Award
DENVER (June 11, 2008) – University of Colorado Denver College of Arts & Media (CAM) Records was recently named as an Independent Music Awards (IMA) Vox Populi Winner. CAM Records Put Your Ear To The Ground: Colorado Cuts Vol. 2 was selected as the College Record Label winner through the IMA Vox Populi Poll, an extension of the seventh annual Independent Music Awards. The album was selected from the largest number of entries the program has received to date.
“The students and faculty in our department are thrilled and honored to discover we are an IMA Vox Populi winner in the Specialty Category,” said Storm Gloor, UC Denver College of Arts & Media assistant professor of Music & Entertainment Industry Studies. “We are extremely proud of our student record label and all of our accomplishments. As an IMA winner, we will be promoted to industry leaders, current fans, and new fans alike – an incredible opportunity.”
The IMA is an international program that promotes independent artists, labels and releases to more than 15 million music fans and industry insiders. More than 30,000 votes were cast at the online Vox Populi Jukebox on the IMA site.
For the first time in seven years, the IMA opened the voting process to include fans and industry voters who were not on the official judging panel. Official judges included Snoop Dogg, Mavis Staples, Susan Tedeschi, Ray Davies, Suzanne Vega, Charlie Musselwhite, Tim Pagnotta, Judy Collins, Mickdeth and Chuck Comeau, among others.
This year, the IMA honored winners in 44 music categories and six design categories.
