This heartfelt, homegrown 6-piece folk group from Denver is set up to make a memorable impact on the Front Range’s folk scene throughout 2017. Their debut EP has received acclaim on streaming services such as YouTube and SoundCloud, and less than a year after their formation they have shared the stage with PHOX and played Denver venues such as Swallow Hill and the UMS.
Influenced by the music of Tony Rice and The Stanley Brothers, Avenhart’s sound encompasses a more melancholic, intimate twist on folk and Americana. Using bluegrass instrumentation, they focus on intricate arrangements, warm harmonies, haunting melodies, heart-felt lyrics, and powerful vocals.
In April of 2016, Avenhart won the University of Colorado Denver’s Road to Lynxapalooza competition after having been a band for 3 months, and subsequently opened for PHOX the following fall and played to a crowd of over 1,500. They are currently gearing up to finish their follow-up EP and release their debut single to terrestrial radio on the Front Range.
